Boat tours

Audio guides for boat tours and harbour cruises

Sightseeing buses are where TourChorus has been proven. The same commentary engine plays by GPS position or in a set order, so it suits a boat route too, and we would like to work with boat operators who want to try it.

Highlights

  • GPS triggers on the water

Stops are circles on a map, so a harbour landmark can trigger commentary as the boat passes it, wherever the phone has a GPS fix.

  • Queue mode when GPS isn't wanted

Play the stops in order with next, previous and skip controls and no location at all. Handy for a fixed-length cruise or a bridge-and-tunnel leg.

  • Every passenger, their language

Translate and voice each stop in the languages your guests speak, with your own recordings for any stop.

  • Download before you sail

Riders can download the whole tour before departure, so a stretch with no signal doesn't stop the commentary.

Where boats stand today

TourChorus is built and tested on sightseeing buses. Boat-specific features, such as following a vessel from its own tracking feed, are on the roadmap, not in the product. If you run a boat tour, a pilot with us is the way to find out whether it fits.

  • Self-serve: build a route and a first stop yourself in minutes
  • Test it in Preview with your crew before any guest hears it
  • Tell us what you need and we'll tell you honestly whether it works yet

The same tools as bus operators get

Scripts with AI drafting and translation, voiceover per language, a branded app, QR codes for tickets and signs, surveys, push notifications and analytics.

  • Your logo, colours and content in the rider app
  • Departure times and a booking button for your ticketing
  • Announcements and push for delays or weather changes

How it works

From your route to your passengers' ears

  1. Step 1: Map your route

Drop stops on a map, set each trigger radius and direction, and run a route dry run that flags pins a bus would miss.

  2. Step 2: Write, translate, voice

Write each stop's script or let AI draft it from your notes. Translate into every language you offer and generate natural voiceover, or upload your own recordings.

  3. Step 3: Brand it and print QR codes

Add your logo, colours and font, preview the app live, then download branded QR codes for seat backs, tickets and signs.

  4. Step 4: Passengers scan and listen

Riders download the free TourChorus app and scan your code. The app becomes your branded tour, and commentary plays automatically at each stop in their language.

FAQ

Questions about boat tour audio guide

Does it work on a boat today?

The commentary engine isn't specific to buses: it plays by GPS position or in order. We haven't published boat results yet, so we recommend a short pilot in Preview mode first, and we'd like to hear how it goes.

What about no signal on the water?

Riders can download the whole tour before departure, and GPS doesn't need mobile data. Test your route in Preview to see how it behaves.

Can we follow the boat from our own tracking system?

Not yet. Following a vehicle from a fleet feed is planned for a later release, bus fleets first.
