GPS audio commentary software

GPS audio commentary that plays at exactly the right stop

Every stop on your route is a geofence with a radius and a direction. The passenger's phone does the rest: when the bus arrives, the story starts, in their language.

Highlights

  • Radius and direction per stop

Set how close the bus must be and which direction it must be heading, so commentary for the left side of the street doesn't play on the way back.

  • Route validation before you go live

A simulated drive along real roads checks that every stop will trigger, and tells you which pins are off the road or out of order.

  • Keeps working with the screen locked

Background location and audio are built for multi-hour trips, with a watchdog that restarts location if the phone drops it.

  • See what played

Analytics show stops played, trips started and how many reached the end, by route and day.

How GPS triggering works

The app compares the phone's position with each stop's circle and direction cone. It processes batches of fixes in order, ignores stale positions from before the trip, and never skips a stop between two fixes on a fast road.

  • Closest-stop and next-stop logic with a bearing cone and 360° wraparound
  • First narrated stop always plays; a stop playing a long clip can be set to cut off or wait
  • Marker stops (bus stops with departure times) update the trip without interrupting audio
  • The tour ends automatically after the final marker

And when GPS isn't the right tool

Not every tour wants location triggers. Queue mode plays the stops in order with next, previous and 15-second jump controls and no GPS at all, so the same content works for walking, in tunnels or on a vehicle you don't want to track.

  • Per route: GPS mode or queue mode
  • Same scripts, translations and voiceover in both

How it works

From your route to your passengers' ears

  1. Step 1: Map your route

Drop stops on a map, set each trigger radius and direction, and run a route dry run that flags pins a bus would miss.

  2. Step 2: Write, translate, voice

Write each stop's script or let AI draft it from your notes. Translate into every language you offer and generate natural voiceover, or upload your own recordings.

  3. Step 3: Brand it and print QR codes

Add your logo, colours and font, preview the app live, then download branded QR codes for seat backs, tickets and signs.

  4. Step 4: Passengers scan and listen

Riders download the free TourChorus app and scan your code. The app becomes your branded tour, and commentary plays automatically at each stop in their language.

FAQ

Questions about GPS audio commentary software

How accurate is the triggering?

Triggering depends on the phone's GPS fix, so you set a radius per stop that suits the street. The route validation tool shows which stops are at risk of being missed before you go live.

Does it drain the passenger's battery?

Location and audio run in the background for the length of the tour, which uses battery like any navigation or music app. When the tour ends the app drops location to a low-power state.

Do we need to track our own vehicles?

No. Today the app uses each passenger's phone GPS. Following the bus from your fleet feed is on the roadmap.

Give every passenger a tour in their language.

Build your first route, hear it in a dozen languages, and test it on the bus before you pay a cent.
